The craft

Embroidery is patience you can see. Every surface, every line and every letter is made of thousands of single stitches.

The tradition: Aghabani

Our designs are inspired by Aghabani embroidery, a craft with a long tradition in the region around Damascus. It is known for round flowers, tendrils and leaf crosses that spread across the fabric in symmetrical lattices, worked in silky, pale or gold-coloured threads.

What fascinates us: the shapes are soft and round, and yet the whole pattern follows a strict order. This balance of abundance and clarity shapes everything we design.

The Arabic script

Many of our pieces centre on a word. Arabic letters join and flow from right to left; every line has its own rhythm. To keep that rhythm in the embroidery, we set each line individually, adjusting spacing, curves and dots so the word looks as beautiful on fabric as it does on paper.

From design to piece

  • Design: pattern and lettering are created for each piece and composed together.
  • Stitch plan: every shape is translated into single stitches – fill stitches for surfaces, fine lines for outlines. This plan decides how the embroidery will catch the light.
  • Embroidery: the piece is embroidered stitch by stitch, dense and even.
  • Finishing and inspection: threads are secured, the piece is checked and only then carefully packed.

Small particularities

Because fabric and thread are natural materials, each piece may differ slightly from the photograph in shade and fine detail. This is not a flaw but part of its character.
